NEW INFO ON BOOSTER SHOTS

SUBJECT: VA Hudson Valley Health Care System is now offering Covid 19 Booster Shots for Eligible Individuals

The CDC identified and recommended several groups of people who should get a COVID-19 booster. Following this expanded guidance from CDC, VA Hudson Valley Health Care System is now providing booster shots for Moderna, and J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals, as supply and capacity permits.

See more information about how VA Hudson Valley Health Care System is administering the Moderna, and J&J/Janssen COVID-19 booster shots below.

** Eligible individuals can also call 845 831 2000 ext. 217666 to schedule an appointment for their booster shot.

Scheduling staff will assist in getting a convenient time for them.
Individuals can also receive their booster shot at no cost outside of VA by locating a vaccine site at Vaccines.gov - Search for COVID-19 vaccine locations. They’ll need to bring their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card for their appointment.

BOOSTER SHOT ELIGIBILITY
For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at six months or more after their initial series:
• 65 years and older
• Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
• Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
• Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings

For people who received a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated at least two months ago.

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may prefer the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

Once they receive their booster, Veterans are encouraged to share this information with their VA health care team. They can send a picture of their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to their VA provider through secure messaging. They can also add their vaccine information to their MyHealtheVet health summary for their records. To add their information, they’ll need a premium MyHealtheVet account. Veterans can visit the following site to learn more about managing their COVID-19 vaccine records online.

Fraternally yours,

Warwick Valley VFW Post 4662 is very pleased to announce the Grand Opening of our new Veteran and First Responder Center in Warwick !

The opening will be held on Friday, Dec 17 starting at 10 am. Our new location is at 154 Route 94 South in Warwick. The Center is attached to the Bowling Alley which is at that location and has a separate entrance adjacent to the Bowling Alley entrance.

It has been a long and challenging road to get to this point, where Veterans and First
Responders will once again have a local place to obtain information on Veteran benefits, crisis resources, mobile health units and the camaraderie that comes from reaching out to those who under-stand the difficulties associated with traumatic experiences.

Please come out and celebrate this grand opening with us. We look forward to sharing the excitement with our beloved Warwick Community who has been right there with us, supporting us every step of the way !

The new Veterans and First Responder Center is now open. Current hours are 10am to 2 pm on Mondays. If you have any issues that need addressing please visit or call our Post phone number at 845 988-8387. “NO ONE DOES MORE FOR VETERANS THAN THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES”

Who We Are:

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is composed entirely of wartime veterans who have been deployed overseas during times of conflict in the Armed Forces of the United States.  The VFW is dedicated to honoring the dead by serving the living.

Our post serves our fellow veterans and our local community.  We have a great membership and take pride in our camaraderie.  We understand where you've been because we've been there too.  Our members and our post Service Officer are a wealth of information on veteran's issues, dealing with the VA, available benefits—and of course we just have a good time in fellowship.

If you are a veteran who has earned a campaign medal and are interested in joining: send a message through the contact page or just show up to a meeting.  More information on eligibility is available here.
